RETENTION OF SECTION 377A, PENAL CODE


As concerned citizens of Singapore, we support the government in wanting to retain S377A of the Penal Code for the good of our children, our families and all Singaporeans.

There are many reasons why the retention of S377A is so important:

S377A is a reflection of the sentiments of the majority of society. Most Singaporeans hold conservative family values and do not accept homosexuality as the norm. (see Singaporeans’ Attitudes toward Lesbians and Gay Men and their Tolerance of Media Portrayals of Homosexuality, by Benjamin H. Detenber, Mark Cenite, et. al., International Journal of Public Opinion Research) Repealing S377A is a vehicle to force homosexuality on a conservative population that is not ready for homosexuality.

Sexual preference is not about civil rights and has nothing to do with equality or tolerance. Repealing S377A would in fact be the first step towards mainstreaming the homosexual lifestyle, which has been shown elsewhere to lead to:

Calls to specify the minimum age for consensual homosexual sex;
A public education system that teaches acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle under the banner of "tolerance";
The redefinition of marriage to include (gay) civil unions and same-sex marriages, and to extend marriage and parenthood benefits to them;
Adoption by same-sex parents.
In short, repealing S377A could lead to the modification of core family values and the family unit as we know it.

The majority of Singaporeans want our children to grow up in a traditional environment that espouses healthy and wholesome traditional family values. We do not want the homosexual lifestyle to be promoted or celebrated.

I will be heartbroken if my kids are gay. But I don't hate them despise them or shun away from them.

Afterall they are humans.

It’s been a long time since a friend made me feel this way. With just words I can feel so beaten up and wounded. Perhaps I just miss the times we shared together working every weekend eating food and working like cows. Perhaps it’s the help I got from her and the unaffectionate way she shows she cares. Even the two aunties there have declared war on each other.

I am actually looking so forward to the hong kong trip with lishan. It’s not just the fact that it’s a holiday and i don’y have to work, but in addition, i am going to spend tons of time with a lovely friend!

After weeks of frustration of using the sony erricson phone, i am now a devoted fan of Nokia 6300. And it took a hell lot of pain, consideration and heartache to get this phone because service provider starhub doesn’t provide it in WHITE. I am SO TEMPTED to change to singtel.

With so much evolving around you, have you taken a moment to look at things in detail?

My last conversation with mark sparked a reflection that I have not been in contact with the people who meant a shit load to me. Somehow work just seems to devour the majority of my time. Not forgetting to add in the stress and complications to work with aliens and the increased expectations of the bosses.

In some ways, I feel I have not done what needs to be done.

And u might think someone like me would know better.

I am sick. And I mean really sick kind of sick. Started off with a sore throat and eventually evolved into a flu and a cough as well. So I can’t talk much (and I sound like a cow) and I can’t stand being in an air-con room with coughing myself to near-death so I am almost dying.

Thank goodness I don’t have a fever (yet)

I had a good time at swissotel with deserts that could bring the dead alive. And I love the pressies too. Thank you lishan for remembering the CD I like =)

My perfume is running low so I got myself this NARCISO RODRIGUEZ tester which can be carried everywhere I go! (yea adds onto the 10kg bag I bring around the world. Laughs)
