It has been a really good year.
I've been lucky enough to travel to quite a few places this year, made loads of new friends and stepped out of my comfort zone in Philips.
Granted, I missed the days where I have my team with me, days where I get to call the shots and have more responsibility on my hands. I loved being able to teach someone new things.
But in exchange, I have gained so much more.
I have more time with my mom, who is the best mom on earth (in my eyes of course!) Her love for us does not come in words or wise advices. Instead she displays them in the smallest form of action like washing my cup for me just because she knows I don't mind using and reusing it to death. Cleaning out my rubbish bin because she knows I procrastinates. Prays for our health during her weekly visit to her temple. Our family's her priority.
I managed to convince the younger brother to go back to school. Despite the years where we fought, strangled and cursed each other to death, I think there's still hope in that brainless one.
Friends from novena are lovely. I'm always getting free coffee treats from them! :D it's only been 2 months but they sure are a fun bunch.
Don't get me started on friend who are overseas. An SMS or picture update from them is enough to plant a smile on my face.
Christmas shopping, feasting over Korean BBQ and catching up over a gin tonic may be simple things but you people are just so much fun to hang out with.
May 2013 be as awesome, if not better!

Of pain and sorrow
I got to know that an ex colleague of mine is going through a very rough patch. It is a story of a man who slipped into the shadows.
Somehow, it reminds me of how dark days were 5 or 6 years ago. I can comprehend the helpless, gut wrenching pain she has to endure. Not forgetting she has 2 young humans now resting in her hands.
How one can be so irresponsible I can never understand nor can I assent.
It is not the fact that you leave behind another, it's more of how you can turn your back without any rhyme or reason. Or for the lack of a better word, be a complete jackass and choose never to look the problem in the eye.

New year resolution
Things I want my lazy ass to do in 2013
Get that tattoo I have been wanting to since so many gazillion years ago.
Get started on driving license. Note to self: I am going to turn 30 REALLY SOON.
Bring Elsie back to class on Saturdays. I miss the buzzing sound of sewing machines. This time I wanna make come pencil cases, cushions and curtains.
Well that is not too long a list.
I hope the new role does not require alot of overtime (if any at all) because I am starting to enjoy having my life back.

One of the colleagues from Novena signed us up for a desert-making lesson at Holland V today. I never knew there was a stretch of (ahem atas looking) cooking-related shops in that area. All I remember of Holland Village is ice cream, beer, gin and a whole lot of merry (remember the stranger who tried to include himself in our pictures when we were in wala-wala?).
So I am now equipped with the knowledge of how to make MOCHI, CHEESE CAKE (ok, actually I can't quite remember this one) and 'SWEE' LOOKING AGAR-AGAR JELLY. Of course the possibility of re-making is a near 0 because I do not have a kitchen to experiment in.
I am officially a business hr no more. Things are changing pretty quick don't you think?
This time last year, I was still clocking a more than 12 hours a day job and if I remember correctly, making sure the go-live for Indon will go smoothly. 12 months on who will remember the legacy of the team who made it happen? I made a mental count and there's barely 9 faces I could recognize from the pictures the survivors put up on FB.
But we are all in better places now and to me just this fact alone has made this year a more than fantastic one.
XOXOXOXO
